When’s the right time to move to a senior living community?
Sooner rather than later. After moving in, many new residents wish they had moved sooner. Waiting for a health condition that requires support can be an unfortunate choice for those who would otherwise – in good health – embrace the active lifestyle and pursue their interests vigorously.
What does my entrance fee cover?
The entrance fee retains your chosen residence and funds the community’s care continuum and long-term capital improvements. Therefore, it’s your investment in your future care. Depending on the contract you select, a large portion of your entrance fee is returned to you, or to your estate, when you leave the community.
Must I purchase a residence?
No. There is a nominal one-time administration fee paid prior to entry and regular monthly fees, but you’ll have no property taxes, town or city utilities, or resale concerns for you or your heirs to worry about. In fact, your residence is a yearly tax deduction.
How do I reserve a residence?
Simply provide a deposit of $1000 with a completed reservation application.
Is my deposit refundable?
Yes. If you change your mind or your plans change prior to moving in, your deposit will be refunded.
May I bring my own furniture?
Yes. All residences are provided unfurnished, and each includes major appliances such as refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, washer, and dryer. You just need to bring everything that reminds you of home.
May I have guests in for meals?
Yes. Thirwood Place offers complimentary meals for guests (based on the resident’s meal plan).
May I have overnight guests?
Yes. Guests may stay in your apartment, and we offer cots for extra visitors. Resident guests may also stay in one of our hotel-style guest suites for a nightly rate.
May I switch to a different unit after I move in?
Yes, you may request a change to a different unit after you move in. When your desired unit or floorplan becomes available, we will help make arrangements for your transfer.
Is additional storage space available?
Yes, each residence is provided with a separate storage room of approximately 32 cubic feet, located on each floor.
May I bring a pet?
Well-behaved dogs and cats are welcome to live at Thirwood Place in designated apartments. Pets must be properly cared for.
