Do you have memory care?
We do not offer memory care. That is why we take our assessment process so seriously. We would never want to move someone in who wouldn’t be able to get the care they require at Thirwood Place.
How do your emergency response systems work/How do you manage emergencies?
Each apartment has an emergency pull chain in the kitchen and full bathroom and a button in the bedroom. These devices are connected to the Thirwood computer system and if activated are announced on two way radios that Security and Cove staff are carrying. Staff are trained to respond quickly. The staff will assess the situation and call EMS if needed. Residents are also issued an emergency pendant at move in either on a wristband or necklace. These devices work the same way as the pull chains and buttons. Residents can also call to report emergencies as staff are available and answer the phone 24 hours a day.
Will I be notified if my family member is sick or injured? If so, how?
A list is kept of emergency contacts for each resident. If the resident is sent to the hospital staff will call to notify the family as soon as possible.
What daily security measures are taken to ensure everyone is safe?
Our security team and nurses’ aids are available to our Assisted Living residents at all time and step-in when they are needed. Our residents also have pendants that they wear on their wrist or around their neck in the event that they fall or need assistance from the Thirwood team.
Do your activities offer cognitive stimulation?
Our extensive activities calendar offers things that are both physically and cognitively stimulating. For example, we have balance class and chair yoga, in addition to word games and other games like BINGO and Rummikub that stimulate the brain. In Assisted Living both our activities coordinators and outside instructors have an awareness of which residents attend certain activities. That way, if someone appears to be late, the instructor will call their apartment to remind them and make sure everything is okay.
What if my spouse needs Assisted Living but I do not?
At Thirwood Place we do not split up couples. If one person in the couple requires Assisted Living based on their assessment, we would move them into Assisted Living together. This way, the spouse that needs the care can receive it from us, freeing up the other spouse to do the things they enjoy, alleviating care giver burnout.
What does my entrance fee cover?

Depending on the contract you select, a large portion of your entrance fee is returned to you, or to your estate, when you leave the community.
