Whether we want to admit it or not, food and dining are huge elements of daily life. Food provides us with energy and nourishment – fueling our bodies. Whether gluten free, vegetarian, dairy free, or just avoiding carbs for the month, dietary needs and preferences MATTER and play a huge role in our daily lives.

When it comes to our potential residents, the most frequent complaint we receive is that they struggle to enjoy the food at their current residence. Maybe a few meals a week are enjoyable but there’s no consistency. The food is either cold, served late or just not tasty enough.

Home is where you go for comfort, and we all know one of the greatest comforts in life can be food! That’s where the Thirwood Place Difference comes in.

We are Committed to Quality Nutrition

Five older adults are dining together around a round table set for a meal, with Valentine’s Day decorations in the background.

We take meal quality and nutrition very seriously at Thirwood Place. If this is going to be your home, we want the meals to taste like they were cooked in your home. Led by our five-star chef, John Payne, we are committed to creating an environment where our residents look forward to every meal. We’ve even made a web series about it on YouTube called Taste of Thirwood.

We offer a variety of options and can meet any of your dietary restrictions or needs. Additionally, we work one-on-one with a dietician through Cape Cod Healthcare. This ensures our residents are getting the highest nutritional value out of their meals.

In addition to the quality of food, we take the ambience of surroundings into consideration as well. Eating in the Thirwood Place Dining Room is designed to match the experience of a five-star restaurant. Not only is there a beautiful view of Flax Pond through the windows, the table settings, waitstaff, and fine china create the perfect atmosphere for top-rated dining.

Cape Cod Seafood

That’s not even the best part. The East Coast is home to the best seafood available and on Cape Cod, we are absolutely spoiled and so are our residents.

Our unique location gives us direct access to the best seafood you can find. Just like all other meals that are made fresh daily, we receive our seafood deliveries daily as well. Only the best and the freshest for our residents.

Your Family Traditions Matter at Thirwood Place

One unique aspect of our dining experience is our private dining room. When Thirwood Place was being created, the developers felt it was important to bring the comforts of home to their residents as authentically as possible. Allowing our residents to rent a private dining room if they have family or friends visiting truly creates an atmosphere like you’re eating in your own home.

Additionally, our residents can invite guests to dine with them each month FOR FREE. If you’re on a full meal plan you can have up to ten guests a month free of charge and five if you’re on a half-meal plan. At Thirwood Place, we want you to feel excited about inviting your friends and loved ones to share experiences with you.

Let’s Talk About our Options

Finally, and most importantly is the fact that we provide you with options and as a resident you have the independence to decide what meal plan you’d like.

A five-course dinner is served Monday through Saturday in our Dining Room. Residents will be seated in the Dining Room between 5pm and 7pm. We also provide Sunday Brunch which is served between Noon and 2pm.

There is a dress code in the Dining Room which we find only elevates the experience.

Maybe you’re looking for something a little less formal for dinner in the middle of the week? We have something for that too! Mr. D’s Bistro is open Wednesday through Saturday. This offers a more casual dining experience between 5pm and 7pm. At the Bistro we provide meals like a pub burger or specialty sandwich. The Bistro offers a more informal atmosphere. We find it’s a great alternative if you don’t want to have a formal sit-down dinner each evening.

Curious about alcohol? Wine, beer, or cocktails may be purchased in the Bistro, Cafe, and Dining Room. Liquor charges will be billed to your account.

You Still Have a Full Kitchen in Your Unit

Additionally, all our apartments are equipped with a full kitchen. So, if you’re someone who’s passionate about cooking a few times a week you can do one of our half meal plans. You still have access to our amazing chef, menu, and dietician. There’s just a little more opportunity for you to cook for yourself on days where you feel inspired.

Lastly, we also know that not everyone can make it to the dining room every evening for dinner. You might be under the weather, or maybe you’re just not feeling up to a sit-down dinner that evening. In this case, for a nominal service fee, you can have your meal packaged and delivered to your front door.

At Thirwood Place, we want our residents to rave about the food just as much as they do about our luxury living accommodations and amazing amenities and services.
