At Thirwood Place we have both Independent Living and Assisted Living. Assisted Living tends to be much more need-based and some residents who enter aren’t making the decision themselves. Recently, the Thirwood team has invited our Independent Living residents to explore the benefits of Assisted Living. That way, they can make the decision to switch on their own when they feel they might need a little more help.

This week, our sales and marketing team hosted a very special breakfast for our Independent Living residents to learn all about what Assisted Living at The Cove is like. The morning started off with made-to-order omelets, bacon or sausage, and fruit. We were so pleased to see all the residents who decided to attend. Knowledge is power, and the goal was to educate. After breakfast, our residents headed into the Assisted Living activities room for a discussion on the different levels of care we offer.

A group of elderly people sit in chairs, holding papers, facing forward in a room with a beach mural decorated with a seascape.

Leading the discussion was our Executive Director Ken Smith, sales team members Larry Lyford and Rita Kyriakides, and Leslie, one of our wonderful nurses. They reassured residents that not much has to change if they move over to Assisted Living,  In fact, they would receive more daily meals and housekeeping than they do in Independent Living. Additionally, they’ll still have access to amenities on the Independent side of the building, and the apartments are exactly the same. Events like this are a wonderful opportunity to show our Independent Living residents that if they happen to need more care, they don’t have to leave the place they love dearly.
