Spring Dish Gardens with C.L. Fornari

In a cozy room at the senior living center, a group of elderly people gather, attentively listening to a woman share her insights on the art of flower arranging.

What a way to start Spring! Last week we were incredibly lucky to have C.L. Fornari at The Cove at Thirwood Place. She celebrated the first day of spring with some of our Assisted Living residents. Together, she helped them create a miniature spring garden with assorted plants and flowers that according to C.L. “are guaranteed to lift our spirits in the months of lions and lambs.” Each resident was given their own bowl and flowers to fill it with, resulting in beautiful floral masterpieces.

C.L. also raffled off a bunch of goodies so each of our residents went home with a gift. She also engaged our residents in a wonderful discussion after they were done making their garden bowls. She told stories of her childhood and the first (edible) plant she ever ate. Laughs were shared and fun was had by all.

C.L. has come to Thirwood Place for quite a few events but this is the first time she hosted something specifically for our Assisted Living residents. At The Cove at Thirwood Place our motto is truly the freedom you want with the care you need. Events like this not only make our residents more confident in their own abilities but allow them to enjoy something a little different from the regularly scheduled activities.
